Job Description:
We are offering a full-time internship programme for Engineering students interested to gain on-the-ground experiences in hardware product research & development (R&D). The position will be temporary in nature and typically last approximately 6 months.
The R&D intern will be given opportunities to gain hand-on experience in the research and development process for industrial hardware products. The R&D intern will be paired with an experienced R&D engineer for mentorship and support in the R&D projects.
The R&D Intern will be supporting in the areas of technical & functionality research, product requirement development, conceptual engineering design, design verification, prototype development, technical feasibility assessment, bench-testing and field testing, performance data gathering and analysis.
Key Responsibilities:
- Be assigned to a R&D group to support new product development or lifecycle product management with focus on engineering activities such as product design, reliability test, risk management, requirement management, product specifications, test method, verification & validation, design control.
- Supporting the brainstorming of conceptual engineering design and CAD drafting for new product ideas.
- Researching and sourcing for parts for testing and prototype development.
- Supporting the prototype development and validation process.
- Supporting the bench-tests and field-tests of prototype to determine products’ technical functionality.
- Supporting the performance data gathering and analysis process and make proposition on areas for improvement.
- Supporting the design documentation (ie. product requirement, risk assessment, performance data).
Requirements:
- Students pursuing Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Engineering (industrial, electrical, manufacturing, mechanical, aerospace or related field).
- Possess previous co-op, internship or work experience and demonstrated leadership/participation in campus programs and/or community service activities is preferred.
- A minimum CGPA of 3.0 is strongly preferred.
- History of high achievement and results in personal, academic and extra-curricular arenas.
- Proficiency in design software such as AutoCAD, Allegro, Altium or similar.
- Strong research, analytical, and communication skills.
- Technical problem-solving aptitude and critical thinking.
- Passion for science, engineering and technology in the plantation and farming industry.
- Have reliable transportation to/from the worksite during the internship.
