Job Description:
We are offering a full-time internship programme for university students interested to gain on-the-ground experiences in software research & development (R&D). The position will be temporary in nature and typically last approximately 6 months.
The R&D intern will be given opportunities to gain hand-on experience in the research and development process for software solutions. The R&D intern will be paired with an experienced R&D engineer for mentorship and support in the R&D projects.
The R&D Intern will be supporting in the areas of software design, applications development, debugging and testing of codes, documenting and testing new software applications.
Responsibilities:
- Be assigned to a software R&D group to support new solutions development.
- Collaborating with other business units on various software development projects.
- Assisting in the development and/or improvement of backend services.
- Assisting in tracking and managing development projects and source code.
- Assisting in system infrastructure development which include scripting, automation, data visualization & dashboarding.
- Supporting the performance data gathering and analysis process and make proposition on areas for improvement.
- Supporting the design documentation (ie. solutions requirement, risk assessment, performance data).
Requirements:
- Students pursuing Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or related field.
- Possess previous co-op, internship or work experience and demonstrated leadership/participation in campus programs and/or community service activities is preferred.
- A minimum CGPA of 3.0 is strongly preferred.
- History of high achievement and results in personal, academic and extra-curricular arenas.
- Knowledge of TCP/IP (Transmission Control Protocol / Internet Protocol) network fundamentals is a plus.
- Proficiency in C/C++, other object-oriented language, and Python.
- Experience with developing software monitoring and control software.
- Basic knowledge about software development tools and current methodologies.
- Strong research, analytical, and communication skills.
- Technical problem-solving aptitude and critical thinking.
- Have reliable transportation to/from the worksite during the internship.
