Dietary pattern in the world is not conducive for optimal health

The average dietary pattern in the world is not conducive to optimal health that often leads to a person being overweight and obese. 2/3 of the current world’s population are overweight and obese; meanwhile the amount of overweight and obese children under the age 5yrs is expected to increase to 11% by 2025 from 7% in 2012.

Food systems are key factors in determining human health; resources, agricultural environment and the food supply chain and the price, may be the main risk factor. The use of fertilizers, pesticides, irradiated and refined products, packaging, coated cans and non-stick pans carry potential health hazards.

In order to better understand the relationship between food consumption patterns, diets and the emergence of noncommunicable diseases, it is crucial to obtain more reliable information on your actual food consumption pattern and also to get to know the source of your food before you consume them.

With solutions from IRGA, farmers and stakeholders will be able to share that information to their consumers to encourage a healthier lifestyle.
