Green Precision Harvesting Cutter Set to Boost Malaysia's Oil Palm Plantations Industry

Plantations Industry Manufacturer Kingoya Enterprise Ready to Receive Orders for Upgraded ECUT ACE Harvesting Machine

KUALA LUMPUR, 16th June 2023 – Kingoya Enterprise announced that it will now be taking orders for the Kingoya ECUT ACE precision electrical FFB harvesting cutter during the International Planters Conference (IPC2023), organised by the Incorporated Society of Planters (ISP) held earlier this week at the Royale Chulan Hotel, Kuala Lumpur.

The ECUT ACE is an upgraded version in the company’s precision electrical harvesting cutter series. The new model has been subjected to extensive re-engineering by IRGA Engineering, Kingoya’s official technology partner, to improve its performance, harvesting efficiency and capability.

Built for precision harvesting, the ECUT ACE utilises an ergonomic backpack which houses its powerful 48V12AH Lithium-Ion battery, making it a zero-carbon emissions device. The backpack also provides a level of weight distribution which supports the harvester enabling a more balanced harvesting process.

The ECUT ACE is specially designed to significantly increase harvesting productivity. Its built-in trigger switch system allows harvesters to make precisely targeted cuts on palm oil fronds and Fresh Fruit Bunches (FFB), enabling the effective harvesting of FFB.

In the hands of a skilled and trained harvester, the new ECUT ACE can achieve a productivity increase increase of at least 2.7x when compared with conventional harvesting operations in Malaysia.

As a purpose-built agritech innovation, the ECUT ACE has undergone an extensive R&D process, with the present model featuring a number of key upgrades. The ECUT ACE has been re-engineered for greater industrial strength and re-designed with materials that significantly reduce its vibration. It has also been fitted with a new Lithium-Ion battery, allowing it to sustain continuous usage of between 6-8 working hours on a single charge.

The new ECUT ACE is available in both the 2.0 and 3.8 models. The ECUT ACE 2.0 utilises a single pole system and has an extension range of up to 2 metres, while the ECUT ACE 3.8 utilises a telescopic dual-pole system and has an adjustable extension range of between 2.5 and 3.8 metres. The 2.0 model is built to harvest oil palm trees at a maximum height of 3.6 metres while the 3.8 model is able to harvest from oil palm trees at a maximum height of 5.5 metres.

The introduction of the ECUT ACE into harvesting operations will allow the industry to transition away from an excessive dependency on manual labour towards greater utilisation of mechanisation and automation technologies. It will allow harvesting operations to take place more fluidly and efficiently, significantly improving productivity gains on plantations operations.

Malaysian Minister of Plantation and Commodities, YAB Dato Sri Haji Fadillah bin Haji Yusoff recently commented on the labour shortage of 63,000 workers within the palm oil industry in 2022. The minister pointed out that the industry incurred a loss of RM 20 billion last year, due to unavailability of harvesters and the corresponding shortfall in yields. In light of this, mechanised devices such as the ECUT ACE have the potential to resolve the gap in yields by enabling more efficient FFB harvesting to take place, thus contributing to increased revenue gains. Widespread adoption of such devices at the necessary scale could lead to an overall revenue uplift of as much as RM 5.4 billion annually at a CPO price of RM 3400 per MT.

Yama Yeo, Head of the Agritools manufacturing division at Kingoya Enterprise Sdn Bhd, expressed great enthusiasm surrounding the launch of the ECUT ACE during IPC 2023. “The ACE is now designed to be industrial grade and there is nothing like it out there. We've engineered it to last 8 working hours a day on a single charge, and with far more torque and lower vibrations. The patented ECUT is a 7-year project, and has required a considerable investment from the company. We’ve learned from our mistakes through extensive field trials and testing with our customers. It’s my baby, so the team and I have done everything we can to make sure it’s best one yet. At Kingoya, we are now working very closely with IRGA’s advanced engineering team lead by Krishna Shanmugam. Together, we strive to give you a product that is simply unrivalled in the field. We will also shortly be announcing our after-sales service plan, on-site training, upskilling, service exchange and leasing programmes.”

The company is currently taking orders for the ECUT ACE through the IRGA’s official sales web portal, with a 4-6 weeks delivery lead time in Peninsular Malaysia. The rollout will then follow to Sabah and Sarawak, and subsequently to Indonesia, Africa and Central America.
